How to Run a 5k by May

Springtime marks the beginning of running season! Thousands will lace up their tennies and take part in the Avera Race Against Breast Cancer in Sioux Falls on May 10th. 2 years ago, it was my first 5k EVER, and this year I'm going for the 10k! It's the best feeling in the world to cross the finish line. 

If you've never taken part in a race, why not make this the year you sign up? It's great motivation to get in shape, lose some weight, get some fresh air, and (usually) help a good cause! NOW is the perfect time to get started. And, it's easier than you may think--no matter what shape you're in! Simpy download the Couch to 5k ap on your smartphone (it comes right up in your ap store) or go to c25k.com.

It's a program that will get you literally off the couch and in 5k shape in no time! It will ease you into running. That way you won't get frustrated or feel overwhelmed from the get go. If you're a seasoned runner, the ap I like to use is Map My Run. It tracks your pace and distance and keeps track of your workouts so you can monitor your progress.
