It's a Beatle reunion!.... kind of... Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will perform together on the same stage at the 56th annual Grammy Awards on January 26th. While I will most likely tune in to see the two play together, my B.S. flag has been thrown. I've said many times over the years that I hate these award shows, because they're self serving and smack of insincerity. This is a perfect example: McCartney is nominated for Best Rock Song for “Cut Me Some Slack” featuring Dave Grohl and Krist Noveselic from Nirvana. Although it's a nice little rocker, let's be honest, it is FAR from a great song. It's a simple little two chord song, BUT, if you want Sir Paul McCartney to show up and play at your little award ceremony, you'd better darn well make sure he's nominated for an award .... see how this stuff works? Oh, and Ringo.... well, you know he didn't have an album, or a song worthy of a Grammy this year, so what do you to get Ringo to show up? Well... Ringo will receive the 2014 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. That trophy will likely go into a box in the garage within two days.
