Well that went by fast! Thursday night football is less than a few hours away and you're probably pondering, "do I start Tom Brady or go to my bench and use my backup QB?" I'm here to help with that.
The above screen shot is of my team in a standard scoring league. As you can see, There isn't much I'll be changing due to my bench being pretty weak and unproven right now (I did start Brandon Pettigrew last week and have since replaced him with Scott Chandler this week). Of course you're going to be starting your star players as it's only Week 2 but are their any sleepers this week? Is there a player who is about to absolutely demolish a defense because that's what he does every time they play? Possibly. Here are my top picks to start this week:
1. Reggie Bush, RB Lions
After seeing what Rams RB Daryl Richardson was able to do against the Cardinals defense last week it's only a wonder as to what the multifaceted Bush can do. Bush had close to 200 total yards and a touchdown in a win vs Minnesota on Sunday. Look for him to have a similar output against a Cardinals defense that looked shakey last week.
2. Julian Edelman, WR Patriots
With #1 option Danny Amendola not likely to play Edelman will be a nice pick to start tonight vs the Jets. On Sunday against the Bills he came up really big with seven catches for 79 yds and a touchdown. Look for him to have almost the same output from Sunday as Tom Brady is still getting comfortable with his new receivers and Edelman is the only one who remains from last season.
3. Trent Richardson, RB Browns
He had a less than stellar performance against the Dolphins last week but something you don't know about Richardson is he seems to have great games against the Ravens. Last season he had a 240 yard performance and this isn't the same Baltimore defense from a year ago. Make sure Richardson is in your lineup for Sunday.
Alright, so you're probably wondering "who should I sit to start some of these guys?" Here's my top picks to sit for Week 2:
1. David Wilson, RB Giants
Wilson was notorious for fumbling last season and Week 1 wasn't very kind to him as he had two costly fumbles and was benched before halftime against Dallas Sunday night. Unless you absolutely have to start him it should go without saying that Wilson should be on your bench. The Giants play the Broncos on Sunday and the Broncos defense gave the Ravens fits opening night.
2. Rashard Mendenhall, RB Cardinals
Mendenhall had a decent debut with Arizona last week but the Lions contained Adrian Peterson pretty well in Week 1. If you're in a deeper league then start Mendenhall but if you have another option to go with, I would go with that.
3. Issac Redman, RB Steelers
Like Wilson, Redman had a bad opening game by coughing up the rock a couple of times. The Steelers play Cincinnati on Monday Night and the Bengals defense has been solid the past couple of seasons. Sit Redman this week.
Make sure you get those lineups adjusted accordingly and good luck this week! I'll be back with waiver wire pick ups for Week 3 early next week.
