1966 Batman TV series coming to home video

by Greg Belfrage

Batmaniacs held their collective breath this week at the following tweet by Conan O'Brien...

Holy home video, Batman!! Could it possibly be true?  After decades of legal wrangling over copyright and ownership issues...is the Batman television show starring Adam West finally coming to home video?

Yes, it's true, says Warner Brothers Entertainment.

Warner Brothers has confirmed the news to several media outlets, including USA Today. The original 1966 Batman TV series will be released as a complete boxed DVD set later this year.

The show made instant stars of Adam West and Burt Ward and resulted in a cultural wave of Batmania that still ripples today.

But did you know that Lyle Waggoner almost donned the famous cape and cowl?  Check out the original screentests for Batman below!
