Anna Mae Bullock (born November 26, 1939) better known by her stage name Tina Turner, is a singer, dancer and actress, whose career has spanned more than half a century, earning her widespread recognition and numerous awards. Born in the United States, she is now a Swiss citizen. She is considered the "Queen of Rock".[3][4] Turner started out her music career in the mid-1950s modeled after Little Richard as a featured singer with Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm, first recording in 1958 under the name Little Ann with the song, "Box Top".[5] Her introduction to the public as Tina Turner began in the early 1960s with Ike as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue.[6] Success followed with a string of notable hits including "River Deep – Mountain High" (1966) and "Proud Mary" (1971).
