SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) - The Sioux Falls School Board last night apprved a nearly 143 million dollar budget for next year that includes a 5.5 percent increase in property taxes.
Board president Doug Morrison says the legislature is responsible for most of the increase. He says locally the board raised the capital outlay fund assessment by six cents, which is 2.5 percent.
Morrison says the board is lowering its tax freeze opt out levy by two cents. That means the school board increase is four cents.
