Sioux Falls prepares for more snow

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The general concensus among city officials is that this next storm will not have as big an impact on trees as last week's storm.

Public Works Director Mark Cotter says many of the weak branches broke in the freezing rain and 7 inches of snow.

But Cotter says watch out for hanging limbs.  He says the additional water and snow could bring that branch down.  He warns residents to be very conscious of what has broken but not fallen from private or public trees.

Cotter says if Sioux Falls gets 6 or more inches of snow, the debris recovery will probably be suspended.  He says some end-gates have been installed on many state and city trucks for snow and ice control.  But they should be ready to come back to branch recovery on Friday.

Cotter says safety for crews will be evaluated is lesser snow amounts fall.
