Each year, Elton John features a young, up-and-coming music act to entertain the star-studded crowd at his annual Oscar viewing party, and this year is no exception.
Elton has chosen Emeli Sandé to sing at the party. She's a Scottish singer/songwriter who's a huge star in her native U.K., and has been making inroads on the charts in the U.S. thanks to her hit single "Next to Me" and her work on Alicia Keys ' current album Girl on Fire .
In a statement, Elton says, "Emeli Sandé’s album Our Version of Events is a true work of art and a favorite of mine. When she is on stage, you can feel her passion for music and the heart that goes into her lyrics. I can’t wait to introduce Emeli to my guests and experience her live performance together. I predict that by next year she will be a multi-Grammy Award winner."
As previously reported, Elton's party, which benefits his AIDS Foundation, will be held at West Hollywood Park in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 24. Elton and his partner, David Furnish –- who just became dads for the second time –- will host the party. Gordon Ramsay will be creating the menu for the bash, which also includes a live auction.
The co-chairs for this year’s viewing party include Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus . The annual event has raised nearly 34 million dollars for the Elton John AIDS Foundation through the years.
