SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KWSN)—The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced Monday that Thomas Forgione (Fore-gee-own) has been named CCM Forward of the Week. Forgione earned the award after posting five points (3g, 2a) in three games last week for the Herd.

The South Burlington, Vermont native recorded a goal and two assists and was a plus-3 in a 6-3 win at Fargo on Friday. Forgione set up the Stampede’s first goal as well as the eventual game winner before adding a goal late in the game to lead the Herd to victory.

On Sunday, Forgione scored twice to help lead the Stampede over Green Bay, 4-1 at the Sioux Falls Arena. With the Herd leading 1-0 late in the first period, Forgione took a pass in the slot from Dennis Kravchenko and backhanded the puck into the back of the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal. He sealed the game at 16:53 of the third period with this second goal of the night to give the Stampede a commanding 4-1 advantage.

The left winger is currently fifth on the team in scoring with 35 points (18g, 17a) and is a plus-7 in 46 games this season. Forgione was acquired by the Stampede this summer in a trade with Cedar Rapids. Last year, he posted 16 points (10g, 6a) in 40 games with the RoughRiders. He will attend the University of Vermont next fall.

Forgione and the Stampede return to action this weekend when they travel to Green Bay and Dubuque. Game times are 7:05 PM each night and games can be heard live on KELO-AM 1320 and online at www.kelo.com
