Bon Jovi has donated one million dollars to a fund that is helping New Jersey communities recover from Superstorm Sandy.
Jon Bon Jovi , joined by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and first lady Mary Pat Christie , announced the donation to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund on Monday, in his native Sayreville.
Saying that he was there for “emotional” reasons and not “political” reasons, Jon told the assembled crowd at the town's borough hall, “I know that there are people that are still suffering. But what I like to call the power of ‘we’ coming together -- that means, you, me, us -- we are taking a step today to rebuild lives.”
Jon toured Sayreville days after Sandy ravaged the area last October. His band later performed at 12/12/12: The Concert for Sandy Relief in New York City.
Jon serves on the advisory board of the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, along with Bruce Springsteen , Bono and other celebrities and executives.
