SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Federal funding for the Lewis and Clark Water system has slowed to a trickle.
Executive Director Troy Larson says 20 cities and three states have pre-paid 154 million dollars but nine member cities are not hooked up.
He says Congresswoman Kristi Noem and Senator Tim Johnson allocated an additional 25 million dollars in a rural water program administered by the Bureau of Reclamation. So hopefully, Larson says, Lewis and Clark will get little extra money through that. He says there is no pipline construction planned this year or next. Lewis and Clark is at a complete standstill.
Larson says the remaining federal share of Lewis and Clark as of last September was over 200 million dollars.
Larson says every year the project is unfinished the cost increases.
The Obama administration is budgeting just over three million dollars for next year.
