KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KWSN)– The Augustana College men's basketball team has earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award, the NABC announced today.
The award is in its inaugural year and recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2012-13 season.In order to earn an NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, an institution must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes competing during the 2012-13 season in NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA Division I and II.
Augustana was the lone representative from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, compiling a team GPA of 3.0 in 2012-13.Augustana made its 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13 and finished the season 22-9.
Augustana finished third in the NSIC with a 15-7 mark in the league.Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana College is a member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
