SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man was arrested for his fifth DWI Friday night after he was stopped by police on South MInnesota Avenue for passing cars in the turning lane.
Lieutenant Jerry Miller says 27-year-old Jesse Lyle Florek is also charged with child neglect for fleeing the scene, abandoning his toddler son in the back seat.
Miller says Florek was unable to show the officer a license, vehicle registration or proof of insurance. While the officer was making a driver's license check in his squad car, Florek fled on foot, leaving his nineteen month old son in the Chevy Suburban.
Florek was arrested about a half hour later near 41st Street and Grange Avenue. Miller says he gave officers a phoney name.
Florek is also charged with driving while revoked, obstructing police, child restraint violation and false impersonation.
The boy was returned unharmed to his mother.
