SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KWSN) – For the third straight week Augustana is ranked third in the Central Region rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
Augustana is in the Central Region, which consists of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). The top eight teams in the final rankings will earn a spot in the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
Augustana is 21-7 on the season and will play Minnesota State in the semifinals of the NSIC/Sanford Health Men’s Basketball Tournament on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Taylor Arena in Rochester, Minn.
Augustana is one of five schools ranked in this week’s regional rankings. Minnesota State earned the top spot for the third straight week while Winona State remained second. Upper Iowa is currently ranked sixth while St. Cloud State earned the No. 9 spot.
The MIAA has three teams ranked this week with Northeastern State ranked fifth, followed by Central Missouri at No. 7 and Washburn at No. 8. For the GAC, Harding is currently ranked fourth and Arkansas Tech came in at No. 10.
The NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Show is set to air at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.
