SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - South Dakota's four technical institutes enjoyed a combined graduation job-placement rate of 97% in the previous school year.
Operations and Information Director for the South Dakota Department of Education, Mary Stadick Smith says 89% of those responding said they were employed in a training-related career field.
Stadick Smith says technical institutes are a really good bang for your buck. She says if you're a student, you enjoy a wide variety of programs that are two years or less. Then when you leave you have a really good chance of finding a job in your field.
Stadick Smith says the report tracks job location, status, and entry wage through a survey mailed to graduates.
She says the numbers are very strong despite a national economy struggling to rebound after a recession.
