Olivia Wise , the 16-year-old Canadian teen whose YouTube video of herself singing Katy Perry's hit "Roar" went viral and attracted the attention of Katy herself, has sadly passed away.  Now Katy's paying tribute to her on Twitter.

According to CTVNews , Olivia, who battled brain cancer for two years, died on Monday.  Katy tweeted, "Olivia Wise, I can hear you singing with the angels now. Your spirit & strength has inspired me & so many others... May you rest in peace."

Olivia's cousin told The Toronto Star in a statement, "She died peacefully in her home surrounded by the extraordinary love of her family.”

Olivia's video of "Roar," which she recorded in September, showed her in a recording studio while sitting in a wheelchair.  It's gotten over a million views. After Katy became aware of it, she posted her own video , telling Olivia that she "sounded great," and adding, "I love you, a lot of people love you, and that’s why your video got to me, and it moved everybody that saw it."  She also encouraged Olivia to "keep roaring."

Olivia's parents have made their daughter's version of the song available on iTunes, with proceeds going to The Liv Wise Fund, which funds brain cancer research and supports other kids with cancer. Another song that Olivia wrote when she was 11, "Simple Girl," is also available for download. Since the fund was established, over $100,000 has been raised.
