Taylor Swift will receive her sixth songwriter/artist of the year trophy from the Nashville Songwriters Association International this weekend.  The honor comes as another one of Taylor's compositions, her Ed Sheeran duet "Everything Has Changed," continues to dominate the airwaves.  Though Taylor has won multiple awards for both her songwriting and recordings, being recognized as a songwriter still means the world to her.

Taylor tells The Tennessean , "Writing my own music is what makes up most of my identity, I think, as an artist and as a human being.  I don’t know what my life would look like if I didn’t write songs."

Taylor encourages her young fans to deal with their problems and emotions through songwriting.  She has a feeling one of those fans will follow in her footsteps one day.

Says Taylor, "The fact that there’s a possibility that there will be kids who are little now, and they’re going to grow up and maybe list me as a potential role model or example of someone who wrote songs and showed them that they can do it too, that’s an amazing feeling.”

Taylor will pick up her songwriter/artist of the year award at an invitation-only ceremony in Nashville Sunday night.
