It could turn out to be a real ladies' night at next year's Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Among the nominees for induction are Madonna , Cyndi Lauper, Sade , and Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart . Songwriter Linda Perry , who once fronted the band 4 Non Blondes and later went on to write hits for Pink and Christina Aguilera , is also up for induction.
Of course, there are some male artists on the ballot as well, including John Mellencamp , Cat Stevens , Chic's Nile Rodgers , Harry Wayne Casey of KC & the Sunshine Band , folk star Donovan , The Kinks' Ray Davies , country star Vince Gill , and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant and Jimmy Page .
In the Non-Performer category, the names on the ballot include Graham Gouldman , who co-wrote hits for The Yardbirds , The Hollies and Herman's Hermits before forming the band 10cc ; Motown songwriter/producer William "Mickey" Stevenson ; Mark James , who wrote some of Elvis Presley 's classic tunes; and the writing teams of Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham , Hugo & Luigi , and Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell .
The members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame will vote on who'll get the honors; their final ballots are due on December 16. The winners will be inducted June 12 in New York City.
