Individual Enrollment Assistance for the Health Insurance Marketplace at Falls Community Health


SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Falls Community Health has received funding to provide Health Insurance Marketplace enrollment assistance to the public. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Falls Community Health has two Certified Application Counselors on staff who have been specially trained to assist individuals with signing up on the new insurance marketplace. They will also assist in outreach promotion and education in the community. The counselors are available to provide in-person help to individuals going through the application and enrollment process on the insurance marketplace.

Open enrollment for the Marketplace will start on October 1, 2013, and end on March 31, 2014. Coverage will begin as soon as January 1, 2014.

The Marketplace is a new way to buy private health insurance. It allows individuals or families to compare plans side by side when making a decision. Individuals or families may also qualify for cost-sharing reductions and tax credits, depending on their income level.

The Healthcare Outreach Enrollment Specialists are available at Falls Community Health as of October 1. Appointments can be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 605-367-8793.
