Michael Buble is getting to be "Mr. Christmas." He's just announced that he'll be starring in his third holiday special for NBC.
Michael's special will feature him performing some of his most popular songs in what's described as an "intimate setting," and as in past years, he'll invite along some of his favorite singers to join him. This will be Michael's first Christmas as a father -- his son Noah was born in August -- so hopefully, we'll get a glimpse of that side of him as well. The special will air December 18 at 10 p.m.
Michael's 2012 NBC special Michael Buble: Home for the Holidays was filmed in the singer's hometown of Vancouver, Canada, and featured appearances from Rod Stewart , Carly Rae Jepsen , Blake Shelton and Elmo the Muppet. The year prior to that, he starred in his debut NBC special, A Michael Buble Christmas , which featured Justin Bieber , The Office star Ed Helms , 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan , country star Kellie Pickler, Latin star Thalia , vocal groups t he Puppini Sisters and Naturally 7 and even Oscar the Grouch .
Meanwhile, we're learning more about Kelly Clarkson 's NBC Christmas special, Kelly Clarkson's (Cautionary) Christmas Tale, which is airing December 11. Loosely based on Charles Dickens ' A Christmas Carol , Kelly will be learning the true meaning of Christmas. She tells Billboard , "I wanted to tell a real story, make a new classic, not just do some skits that aren't really related."
One of the show's producers adds, "This will feature a full narrative with a beginning, middle and end, and the spine is her singing. We'll have a young girl, narrating the story, sitting in an overstuffed chair in front of an amazing fire, reading the story from a book. And yes, it starts with 'once upon a time' and ends with 'happily ever after.'"
