Sara Bareilles is having a moment: she's nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, and will perform on the People's Choice Awards on January 8.  This Sunday morning, she's being profiled on CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood.

During the interview, Sara talks about her song "Brave," which was originally inspired by her gay friend's struggle with coming out, but which has since become an anthem for anyone who's facing a challenge. "I just felt like I was watching the song take flight and take on a life of its own,” Bareilles says on the show. "And it was becoming something bigger than it had even intended to be. And that’s always...oh my gosh, what amazing hope for something you create."

The singer/songwriter also talks about the momentary controversy over the fact that Katy Perry's hit "Roar," which was released months after "Brave," bore more than a passing resemblance to Sara's song.  While Sara agrees that the songs "sound similar," she notes that she and Katy are friends, and says that ultimately, the controversy's been "really good for my song," adding, "So thank you, Katy Perry, for that."

You can watch Sara's interview Sunday morning at 9 a.m. ET on CBS.
