SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) - Court papers reveal repeated sexual intimacies between former Axtell Park teacher Tonya Drueppel and a 14-year-old girl.

But Officer Sam Clemens says detectives believe no violations occured at the school.

Drueppel was arrested a week ago while with the victim at the Nite’s Inn on West 12th Street.  According to court documents the teenager opened the motel room door for police and Drueppel had an electric cord around her neck attempting suicide.

Drueppel was arrested on three counts of Rape 4th Degree and two counts of Sexual Contact with a Child Under 16.  Police say the investigation began on January 22 when police received a referral from the Department of Social Services about a 14-year-old girl who was having some type of relationship with Drueppel. It is believed this relationship began in 2012.

Drueppel is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

The School District says Drueppel worked there until the end of the last school year.  She was working at a Tea daycare since then.
