SDSU: Fall Golf Schedules Announced

BROOKINGS, SD (KWSN) —The third annual Jackrabbit Fall Invitational highlights the 2014 South Dakota State men’s and women’s fall schedules.

The Jackrabbits schedules have them traveling to six states for five events each in September and October.

For the men’s team, the Jacks open the season at the Whistling Straits Intercollegiate in Sheyboygan, Wis., Sept. 1-2. The Whistling Straits has hosted the 2010 and 2004 PGA Championships and the 2007 U.S. Senior Open and is the future site of the 2015 PGA Championship and 2020 Ryder Cup.

SDSU then travels to Fort Collins, Colo., for the Ram Masters Intercollegiate at Fort Collins Country Club Sept. 15-16.

For the second year in a row, the Jackrabbit women’s team opens its season in Normal, Ill., in the Redbird Invitational at the Illinois State University Golf Course Sept. 7-8. SDSU then makes its first appearance ever at the Oregon State Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore., Sept. 15-16.

The teams return home Sept. 22-23 for the third annual Jackrabbit Fall Invitational at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls. Both teams won last year’s invitational.

In October, the men’s team travels to Utah for the Utah Invitational at the Jeremy Golf and Country Club Oct. 6-7. The Jacks conclude the fall season at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate Oct. 13-14 at the Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, Kan.

The Jackrabbit women are at the Diane Thomason Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa, Oct. 4-5. Their last event takes them to Springfield, Mo., for the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial at Rivercut Golf Course Oct. 13-14.

Last fall, the men’s and the women’s teams had three top-10 finishes.
