Washington D.C. (KELO AM) - Rep. Kristi Noem helped lead the U.S. House of Representatives in reaffirming support for Israel and condemning the actions of Hamas by passing H.Con.Res.107.
“Hamas’s use of children and innocent civilians as human shields is detestable and my heart breaks for the families of the innocent victims,” said Rep. Noem. “I stand firmly behind Israel and strongly believe in their sovereign right to defend their democracy. My position is not based only on Israeli interests, but the interests of the United States and of South Dakota. Along with the common values of democracy and freedom, Israel and the United States have long stood on the same side as we work to defeat the terrorism brought by Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda and affiliate groups. For this and many other reasons, Israel is one of our closest allies in a region that greatly impacts American national security.”
H.Con.Res.107, which Rep. Noem cosponsored, condemns Hamas’s practice of using innocent civilians as human shields and calls on the international community and the Palestinian Authority’s Mahmoud Abbas to recognize these breaches of international law. Moreover, through the resolution, the House places responsibility for launching the rocket attacks on Hamas and other terrorist organizations in Gaza and reaffirms support for Israel’s sovereign right to defend its territory.
