Undated (KELO-AM) The warden of the South Dakota State Prison on Thursday handed Lincoln County Emergency Manager Harold Timmerman a surprising donation for flood recovery. It was from the prisoners.
Timmerman says the prisoners raised $1,740.25. He says the warden told him that these inmates have hearts like everyone else. These are the same men who helped clean up flood damage in Lincoln and Union Counties soon after the June storms. They just wanted to do more.
Timmerman says the inmates also gave money to help Wessington Springs recover from the June tornado.
If the prisoners can dig deep, so can you. The Concert in Canton is a free concert in the flood struck city Thursday night, featuring several folk groups at Jack Fox Park. There will be a raffle for a new car. All proceeds go to help residents still dealing with damaged homes and basements.
