SIOUX FALLS, SD (KWSN) – University of Sioux Falls head women’s basketball coach Travis Traphagen announced Monday that assistant coach Chelsea DeVille has been promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach for the Cougars women’s basketball program.

“I am extremely thankful and humbled in the loyalty and support from Coach Traphagen and the rest of this University for this promotion,” said DeVille of her appointment as associate head coach. “I am both honored and excited to continue to help grow the success of the University of Sioux Falls through the women’s basketball program.”

DeVille, beginning her sixth season as a coach at USF, serves as the recruiting coordinator and is responsible for guard development. She also assists with scouting reports and travel arrangements for USF women’s basketball.

A 2009 graduate of Augustana College, DeVille started in every game she played and was named the North Central Conference Freshman of the Year. In her time with the Vikings, she averaged 7.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

The Watertown, S.D. native has helped guide the Cougars program to a 0.627 winning percentage (94-56) in her five seasons with USF. DeVille’s time with the program has been highlighted by back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2010-2012 which included a postseason run to the NAIA Elite Eight. This past season, she helped the Cougars put together another postseason run as USF advanced to the semifinals of the NSIC Women’s Basketball Tournament where they fell to eventual the conference champion and NCAA Division II Elite Eight qualifier, Concordia-St. Paul.
