There are so many top musicians appearing on the Tony Awards Sunday night, you'd be forgiven for thinking it's the Grammy Awards.
Sting , Gladys Knight , Fantasia , Patti LaBelle , Idina Menzel , Jennifer Hudson , Gloria Estefan and Carole King are among the performers and presenters on Sunday night's telecast , which airs live from New York's Radio City Music Hall on CBS starting at 8 p.m. ET.
Sting will perform a tune from his upcoming Broadway musical, The Last Ship . Gladys, Fantasia and Patti will team up for a performance with the cast of After Midnight , which pays tribute to Duke Ellington 's orchestra that played at Harlem's legendary Cotton Club in the 1920s. J-Hud will sing a song from the musical Finding Neverland .
Carole, whose life inspired the nominated musical Beautiful, will serve as a presenter, as will Gloria and her husband Emilio Estefan , who have their own musical in the works called On Your Feet!
Idina, who's nominated for her role in the musical If/Then , will do a number from that production. However, there will also be a special performance to mark the 10th anniversary of the smash musical Wicked , and since Idina originated the role of Elphaba in that show, it's a safe bet that she'll take part in that as well. Let's just hope that whoever introduces Adele, uh, Idina, does a better job than John Travolta did at the Oscars.
Hugh Jackman hosts the festivities, and other stars who'll be appearing include Tina Fey , Orlando Bloom , Samuel L. Jackson , Bradley Cooper , Neil Patrick Harris , Kevin Bacon , Will Ferrell , Zach Braff , Tony Goldwyn , Wayne Brady , Emmy Rossum , Maggie Gyllenhaal and many, many more.
