Call her a Broadway veteran, maybe: Carly Rae Jepsen ended her run on Broadway as the star of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella on Sunday night, and now she'll be going back to her day job: pop star.
"I've been writing a new record and now I’m ready to get back into the studio to start work on my next album," the Canadian "Call Me Maybe" singer tells Broadway.com. "My band boys are all itching to get back on the road and I'm kinda craving that chaos again too."
However, Carly says she does hope one day to return to Broadway; she calls the experience "inspiring, humbling and unforgettable." She also says she's now "addicted" to acting. But it turns out that spending months onstage taking part in 17 different musical numbers every night has had an unexpected benefit that will help her in her pop career.
"My voice has gotten a lot stronger," she tells Broadway.com . "I worked with a vocal coach and learned some new techniques. I'm singing and talking in a way that's much less straining. These tricks will surely help me on tour as well."
