Looks like Begin Again , the movie that marks Adam Levine 's movie acting debut, is connecting with theatergoers. The film so far is only playing in New York and Los Angeles, but it's doing well at the box office, and also has garnered decent reviews overall.
As The Wrap reports, Begin Again opened in just five theaters, but brought in an average of $29,665 per screen, which is considered "impressive." More than two-thirds of the audience was female -- not surprising, given Adam's presence and the fact that it's a romantic comedy -- but an executive for The Weinstein Company, which is distributing the film, tells The Wrap, "Guys are going to like it more than they think going in. It's the perfect date movie."
Begin Again , which casts Adam as a musician who dumps his girlfriend after he hits it big, has received a 73-percent positive rating from the movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes . It'll open in 45 more cities this weekend, and then 500 additional locations the following week. The soundtrack, featuring Adam and co-stars Keira Knightley and Cee Lo Green , comes out on Tuesday.
Also due Tuesday, Adam and Maroon 5's video for their latest hit, "Maps." It'll debut at 6 a.m. ET on MTV and online at VH1.com . Based on a video still MTV tweeted out, it looks like the video involves Adam taking a trip to the emergency room.
