Washington, DC (KELO-AM) Predictably, South Dakota Republican Senator John Thune is blasting President Obama's 2015 budget proposal.
Senator Thune says the budget panders to Obama's political base and explodes the size of the federal government. He also says it contains a number of concerns for South Dakota, from creating a backdoor energy tax, to calling for National Guard cuts, to failing to move the Lewis and Clark water project forward.
Lewis and Clark Exective Director, Troy Larson tells KELO that only $2.4 million is proposed for the rural water system. Larson calls that a 'travesty' and a 'kick in the gut'.
The President's proposed budget contains $56 billion in increased spending while projecting that the country is on track to cut deficits to below 2% of the economy over the next decade.
