Thune, Johnson split on Obama nominee

Washington, DC (KELO-AM) South Dakota Senators Tim Johnson and John Thune split along party lines in Wednesday's vote, rejecting a controversial Obama nominee for Assistent U-S Attorney General.

Debo Adegbile was the lawyer for a Black Panther Party member who killed a police officer decades ago in Philadelphia.

Republican Thune voted against Adegbile. Democrat Johnson voted for him, saying even the most unpopular clients deserve legal representation and that there was alot of misinformation about Adegbile.

The South Dakota Fraternal Order of Police joined other police organizations in opposing the Adegbile nomination.

The U-S Senate rejected Obama's choice, 47-52.
