SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School Board at a special meeting Wednesday, was considering a significant change in the District’s COVID-19 quarantine rules.
The proposed change would do away with the mandatory 14-day quarantine for close contacts if the contact and the person with COVID were both wearing masks at the time of the possible exposure.
The School District is concerned that so many close contacts are being kept out of the classroom even though the number of students and staff with the disease is far less than one percent.
The special meeting was set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Instructional Center.
The South Dakota State Education Department recently clarified that a set quarantine for the close contract is up to individual school districts.
