PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Department of Health reports five new coronavirus deaths Friday.
That is the largest number of daily deaths in nearly a month.
The death toll is now 1,967.
However, other coronavirus numbers are down from Thursday.
Hospitalizations are down three to 112.
Active cases are down 98 to 1,624.
New cases are at 129, which continues a downward trend.
Over 119,000 South Dakotans have recovered from the pandemic.
Nearly 55% of the population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
And nearly 46% are now fully immunized.
