SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A high speed chase that resulted in shots fired towards law enforcement has landed two men in prison.
On July 14th, 2022, a traffic stop was attempted on a vehicle in Minnehaha County.
The vehicle, driven by 40-year-old James Lanpher, Jr., of Sioux Falls, took off at a high rate of speed and led deputies on a chase that ended up in Madison.
While in Madison, Lanpher fired a rifle at deputies before exiting his vehicle and taking off on foot.
He admitted in court to being a habitual offender and was sentenced to life in prison.
The passenger, 45-year-old Bonner Juel of Harrisburg, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the crime.
