SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — An historical event at the state Capitol in Pierre.
And with that, Rhoden becomes the 34th Governor of the state of South Dakota. He described the experience as surreal, and said, “Now it’s time to get down to work!” Governor Rhoden says he’s been focused on preparing for this day for over a year. Now, he says he’s more than ready to serve as Governor. Just minutes after taking his oath, Governor Rhoden was asked about running for reelection in ’26.
Governor Rhoden is keeping many of former Governor Noem’s staff members in place. He says he’ll announce his nominee for Lieutenant Governor within a few days. A larger, more formal inauguration will take place February 8th.
