Last night I watched a newer movie with my wife Dakota called Novocaine (2025). It’s now streaming, and stars Jack Quaid – who I didn’t recognize in this movie until I looked him up on wiki and saw all the movies he’s been in, and I know him from a lot of roles, just didn’t recoginze that this was him! It also has Amber Midthunder (who honestly don’t know from anything), and Ray Nicholson (who is Jack Nicholson’s son, and he’s also been in a lot of stuff I’ve seen, just never realized it was him). The story follows a guy named Nate who suffers from a condition where he can’t feel any pain, which in this movie he’s able to use to his advantage. Going around, beating up the bad guys, feeling no pain, trying to save the girl. This movie is a fun, fast paced shoot-em-up movie. I liked it because it’s got charm, logic, and the things that go on throughout the movie actually make sense. It’s a solid flick and I’d definitely recommend it to people who love a good action movie. There are some F-words used in this movie, and there is violence which does give it an R-rating, but I’d say it’s a “light R,” if you can handle movies like Die Hard or Terminator, those are way more intense than Novocaine.
I give this one 3 stars out of 5 – You can see what I’m currently watching by following me on Letterboxd @ roberthawk
