SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The attempted theft of a vehicle quickly turned south for a would-be carjacker.
A man got into a running truck Thursday evening near 12th and Summit in Sioux Falls.
What he didn’t know was that there were three kids inside, ages 4-11, waiting for their parents to exit the house.

The suspect ran into the bathroom of a nearby business, catching the attention of a security guard that was in the area.
Police eventually arrived and the suspect surrendered.
28-year-old Samuel Patterson of Wagner, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Grand Theft.
The security guard suffered minor injuries during the scuffle, but was not stabbed. No other injuries were reported.
