PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — County auditors across the state are ready for the election day surge.
South Dakota Secretary of State Steve Barnett says they have had several practice runs.
Barnett says not all the ballots will be counted by tonight (Tuesday), and that’s been planned.
He says counties using vote centers will have manual backups to their electronic poll books.
Barnett says almost half of the states registered voters had cast a ballot before the election day polls opened.
Polls in SD are open from 7 AM to 7 PM local time.
