Sioux Falls, SD (KELO.com) — Minnehaha County’s Juvenile Justice Center is still under construction, but county commissioners say now is the time to make it larger. Commissioners unanimously approved a proposal to add 66-hundred square feet to Phase two of the project as officials prepare to occupy Phase one next month. Administrative Officer Tom Greco says the space will be needed in the future and there’s plenty of room in the construction budget to make it happen now. The 1.6-million-dollar addition bumps the total project cost up to 42.2-million dollars. That’s still below the 50-million-dollar cap approved by the commission when construction began.
