New mural on Sioux Falls Food Co-Op building celebrates farmers

(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota farmers are being recognized through a new mural in Sioux Falls. The Sioux Falls Food Co-op says the mural on the side of its building was painted as part of the Fairtrade America Mural Project and Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream partnership. It features Marie Ronette Botramisy, a vanilla farmer from Madagascar, and helps pay farmers livable wages. Botramisy says the Sioux Falls Food Co-op is motivated to continue serving underrepresented farmers, as the mural is a reflection of hard work by farmers and local initiatives. Local artist Erin Castle painted the mural.
