Coroner lists top causes of death in 2025 investigations

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Drug overdoses were the leading cause of deaths investigated by the Minnehaha County Coroner last year.  Coroner Dr. Kenneth Schnell says there were 24 drug-related deaths, including eight caused by fentanyl and seven by meth.  Gunshot wounds came in second, with 23 shooting deaths investigated by his office.
