SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Newly reelected City Councilor Rich Merkouris is scheduled for open heart surgery later this week. Merkouris shared on his personal Facebook page that he will have surgery Thursday to repair an aneurism on the main artery coming out of his heart. He says the good news is the rest of his heart is strong. Merkouris is asking for prayer for the medical team and his family.
