PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) – Long time South Dakota lawmaker and former gubernatorial candidate Lars Herseth has passed away.
According to his obituary, he died of cancer at his home Saturday.
He was a Democratic legislative leader in the State House from 1975 to 1986, and then in the Senate from 1989 – 1996.
Flags will fly at half-staff on Sunday, October 4th when his memorial service will be held.
