Nov 05 (Field Level Media) – Charlotte Hornets forward Kon Knueppel, making his season debut after missing eight games with a left hamstring injury, lasted only one quarter against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday in New York before exiting with left leg soreness.
Following the Hornets’ 114-104 defeat, Charlotte coach Charles Lee said of Knueppel, “I don’t have an update (on him) yet. We’ll evaluate it more when we get home from the road trip tonight.”
Knueppel felt soreness after dribbling the ball off his heel with 6:09 remaining in the first quarter while being defended by Julius Randle and headed to the locker room.
In six minutes, he scored three points on three free throws and missed his only field-goal attempt.
Last season, Knueppel became the first rookie to lead the NBA in 3-pointers made, sinking 273. In 81 games, he averaged 18.5 points, shot 47.5% from the floor, made 42.5% of his 3-point attempts and finished second to former Duke teammate Cooper Flagg in Rookie of the Year voting.
