Before becoming a mom, getting a haircut was just another thing on my to-do list.
After becoming a mom? It somehow became one of the easiest things to put off.
Somewhere between early mornings, diapers, work, daycare, meals, laundry and trying to keep a tiny human alive and happy, taking care of myself kept moving lower and lower on my priority list.

And I know I’m not the only mom who does this.
As moms, we’re really good at making sure everyone else has what they need. The baby has clean clothes. The family has food. Everyone else gets taken care of.
But when it comes to us? We tend to say, “I’ll do it next week.”
Then next week turns into next month.
And before you know it, almost a year has passed since you’ve done something as simple as getting a haircut.
I’ve learned that self-care doesn’t have to mean an expensive vacation or an entire day at the spa. Sometimes self-care is simply taking an hour for yourself.
For me, that recently meant stopping into MJ Capelli.
It wasn’t just about getting my hair done. It was about taking a little time for myself and walking out feeling refreshed, confident and like myself again.
As moms, we often feel guilty taking time for ourselves. But I’ve realized something: taking care of yourself isn’t selfish.
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
