SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – Attorney General Marty Jackley says South Dakota is joining 16 states in a request to stop Medicaid fraud. Jackley says the state has recovered almost two-billion dollars since 2025 in criminal and civil cases related to Medicaid fraud.
He is now joining colleagues in an appeal to urge Congress to support the Stop Fraud in Medicaid Act on a national level.
The law would allow broader autonomy for Attorney General’s to investigate and prosecute fraud cases in their own states.
As of now, only the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is allowed to investigate and prosecute Medicaid provider fraud.
