SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) –City Finance Director Shawn Pritchett is proposing slight changes to the 2027 budget.
Mayor Christine Erickson presented the 794-million-dollar budget in late July, along with a billion-dollar capital improvement budget for the next five years.
Pritchett provided more details, including the hiring of nine new positions.
Seven of those new jobs would be police officers.
Pritchett told the city council that revenue has remained steady with sales taxes growing by 11-point-four percent in July.
Pritchett also said building permits remained steady and restaurant growth rose by five percent in 2025.
