Clemson Tigers senior defensive tackle Vic Burley has been suspended indefinitely following an arrest early Saturday morning, coach Dabo Swinney announced in a statement.
Swinney said Burley was charged with disorderly conduct after being arrested by the Clemson University Police Department.
“I have made the decision to suspend Vic from our football team indefinitely. We are extremely disappointed by his actions and decisions,” Swinney said in a statement.
A former five-star recruit from Warner Robins, Ga., the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Burley had 15 tackles last season. He has played 267 defensive snaps in 21 career games and has been expected to play a significant role for the Tigers’ defensive line.
Unranked Clemson opens its season at No. 11 LSU on Sept. 5.
